Bill MacIlwraith's The Anniversary 'A great night out, once again. I’m starting to wonder where the Players, who should surely be the envy of many professional outfits, can take us next – they seem to me to be entering on a golden era. Fabulous, absolutely.' Malevolent and incredibly possessive, Mother manipulates her sons into submission by plying them with gifts, exploiting their weaknesses and making pointed threats. But rebellion is in the air when the family unwillingly gather to celebrate Mum's wedding anniversary (even though Dad has been dead for years). One son plans to emigrate to Canada and another wants to get married, but can they summon up the courage to confess all to Mum? She's not going to relinquish her supremacy without a good fight! Directed by Ian Parkes The Anniversary was performed over two weeks in the Lichfield Garrick Studio from Wednesday 25th - Saturday 28th November and Wednesday 2nd - Saturday 5th December 2009. |
