New Logo Competition!

Congratulations to Rachael Sivewright on her winning design.

New logo unveiled as next Lichfield Players season announced

Theatre-goers to the Lichfield Players’ last play of their season will be the first to find out what’s in store for the next 12 months, and also the very first to see the Players’ brand new logo in print. The rebranded logo, designed as part of a community competition, will feature in the Players’ new season’s programme, to be launched when they perform Willy Russell’s ‘One for the Road’ at the Lichfield Garrick next week.

“We are delighted with the outcome of our Spring competition which invited members of the public to redesign our logo ready for our 2010/2011 season,” said Players President Steve Brunton. “The calibre and creativity of entries was exceptional, but our judging panel was particularly drawn to student Rachael Sivewright’s reworking of a theatrical mask which puts a fresh, unique spin on the logo we’ve been using for over 20 years.”

Currently completing her first year at Lincoln University, Rachael was alerted to the competition by her Lichfield resident parents. “Studying for an Art and Design Diploma at Tamworth and Lichfield College inspired me to embark on a Graphic Design course, and this was a great chance to have a go at a real life project,” said Rachael.

Having been chosen as the successful entrant, the 21 year old was invited to see her concept developed into a professional logo by Lichfield based Igloo57, an internationally renowned graphic design agency and one of the founding members of The Media Revolution – a national collective of design talent. In a separate community project, the agency is also redesigning the 7 th Lichfield Scouts website.

“To watch my design evolve has been a really exciting process and I’m really pleased with the finished result,” said Rachael. “Fingers crossed the new Players’ logo will be around for many seasons to come!”
